In 2020, the total import and export volume of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) industry was about 2.3 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 18%, and the trade surplus was about 850 million yuan; In 2021, the total import and export volume of China's polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) industry exceeded 3 billion yuan, and the trade surplus exceeded 1.7 billion yuan, both reaching a record high.

In 2020, the total import amount of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) in China was about 700 million yuan. In 2021, China's total imports of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) rebounded, with a year-on-year increase of 8%.

From the point of view of imports, in 2021, there were 20 countries or regions that imported PVA products in Chinese mainland. Among them, the largest trade importing country was Japan, and the import volume accounted for over 50%. Secondly, the import volume of Singapore and Taiwan China accounted for over 10%, accounting for over 90% of the total imports of the top 5 countries or places, reflecting the high concentration of the PVA industry in the Chinese mainland.
